Dear Sumpter Families,

Sumpter Community School

HELP! Campaign

Putting technology into the hands of every child

Sumpter  is beginning an ambitious campaign to increase Sumpter students’ access to technology by putting iPad minis in the hands of all of their K-5 students.  The idea is to build on Sumpter’s tradition of hands-on instruction and individual exploration by using a device that is rewriting the rules for interactive learning.

For a real treat, view the attached video of Sumpter students sharing what they want to be when they grow up.

At Sumpter, we want iPad minis visible across the school. Introducing iPad minis and select apps opens new learning opportunities, makes learning more hands-on and increases our students’ ability to access apps and books geared to their own learning levels.  The benefits for students using iPad minis are numerous.  Students participate in collaborative experiences with teachers and other students, develop their own video learning projects, experience engaging math, literacy, science and social studies learning that builds fluency and depth of knowledge, and so much more.

Our goal is to fill our current iPad tower with 40 iPad minis.  We are almost there with 21 iPad minis only 19 more to go!  We need your HELP!  The cost for each iPad mini is currently $279.

Cash contributions of $10 or more are being sought to support this campaign.  Please send checks or money orders payable to Sumpter Elementary School to 525 Rockwood Street SE, Salem OR 97306 or call Sumpter for additional information at 503-399-3337.  If you would like to send a check or money order into school with your child to deliver to the school office, that is OK as well.  All contributions will be used for the sole purpose and benefit of supplementing Sumpter’s HELP! Campaign to purchase iPad minis.  If you would like to contribute to this school-wide campaign using a credit card, Mr. Cain, our 4th grade teacher and technology chair, has established a account for families to do so.  Just click on this link and follow the directions posted.

If you have any questions or wish to have more information about this campaign please call Sumpter at 503-399-3337 and ask for Janet Prats (Principal), Jennifer Koenig, (LSAC Chair) or Michelle Muth (LSAC CO-Chair).  Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

For the next 7 days, when someone donates to our HELP! Campaign and enters the code 100WOMEN, the 100 Women in Hedge Funds organization will match their donation dollar for dollar.
