The Sumpter Singray Choir has begun!

At Sumpter, students have the opportunity to participate in the Singray Choir. This group is open to any students in 4th or 5th grade who like to sing, perform, and hold high standards for themselves. In choir, students will develop singing technique, practice performance conduct, and foster life skills such as teamwork and responsibility. Students will have the opportunity to perform in venues such as Sumpter Elementary assemblies, two evening concerts, and the Salem Capitol building (“Holidays at the Capitol”).

Students rehearse twice a week, with a combined rehearsal on Tuesdays from 9:35am-10:15am (during school), and a sectional rehearsal on either Wednesday or Thursday after school from 3:45pm-4:15pm. All rehearsals are held in the Sumpter Music Room.

*Parents will need to arrange for their child to be picked up at the front door at 4:15pm, or to have them walk home. There will be no bus services.*

If your child is interested in joining choir, he/she had the opportunity to “try it out” for one week, from September 29 – October 2. At the end of the week, students will decide if they want to commit to choir for a full school year, and will be given a permission form and choir handbook at that time. Choir will officially begin October 6, 2015.
